Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an experienced Systems Engineer to support the development of first-of-kind space vehicles and missions. You will lead modelling and simulations from early capability studies to demonstrations and serve as a primary customer contact.

You will collaborate with experts across the business to converge on feasible solutions, work in multidisciplinary teams, and develop mission planning tools and physics-based simulations to inform design trade studies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field.
• Active U.S. Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance (active in past 24 months).
• Proficiency with MATLAB, Python, or comparable software language.
• 7 years of systems engineering experience.
• 2 years of experience in a technical leadership position (Engineering Team Lead, IPT, Technical Project Manager, etc.).
• Proficiency in MBSE.
• Proficiency developing control algorithms, models, and simulations.
• Proficiency in space environments, mission design, or astrodynamics.
• Experience with cross-functional teams and external customers.
• U.S. Person status for export control compliance; U.S. Citizenship required.

• Work in multidisciplinary teams to bring concepts of operations to fruition in support of mission objectives
• Develop and present review packages to internal and external senior leadership
• Work proactively and independently in a fast-paced, demanding atmosphere
• Develop physics-based mission simulations to inform system trade studies and verify system performance
• Develop mission flight plans and concepts exploring new and novel astrodynamics approaches
• Develop and maintain operational mission planning tools
• Work as an individual contributor and team lead

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
• Active U.S. Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months
• Proficiency with MATLAB, Python, or comparable software language
• 7 years of systems engineering experience
• 2 years of experience in a technical leadership position (Engineering Team Lead, IPT, Technical Project Manager, etc.)
• Proficiency in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
• Proficiency developing control algorithms, models, and simulations
• Proficiency in space environments, mission design, or astrodynamics
• Experience working with cross-functional teams and external customers
• Experience in spacecraft, launch vehicles, or highly autonomous unmanned system
• U.S. Person status required for U.S. export control compliance
• U.S. Citizenship required for the active U.S. Top Secret/SCI Security Clearance
