Job summary

AeroVironment is seeking a Components (EEE) Parts Engineer to learn and contribute to component selection, screening, and qualification for space environments. You will work with senior engineers to understand MIL-STD standards and ensure parts survive mission-critical operations.

The role emphasizes learning radiation effects, NSARs, and part testing while coordinating with design, procurement, and quality teams. A U.S. citizen with a technical degree is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related technical discipline.
• Experience with and exposure to applications and usages of electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical components
• A demonstrated interest in radiation-hardened electronics, material science, or space environments.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a methodical approach to data management and documentation.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior engineers in identifying and qualifying components that meet program requirements.
• Learn to interpret MIL-STD, EEE-INST, PEM-INST to component screening and qualification.
• Act as a technical link between design engineering, procurement, and quality teams to track the lifecycle of parts from design to deployment.
• Monitor End of Life notices and identify suitable form-fit-function replacements to prevent delays.
• Learn to analyze GIDEP alerts and PCNs.
• Support implementation of counterfeit part detection strategies through inspection and documentation review.
• Work with radiation effects specialists to learn ionizing radiation impacts on semiconductors and document tolerances.
• Generate and maintain compliance reports and NSPARs.
• Coordinate component-level testing, including burn-in and environmental stress screening.
