Job summary

Varda Space Industries is seeking a Space Systems Engineer II, Avionics to lead design, integration, and testing of avionics for Winnebago Spaceship. You will ensure readiness for launch and reentry, collaborating across engineering teams to meet mission objectives.

The role emphasizes in-depth avionics knowledge, HITL testbeds, and hands-on verification across development and flight stages. On-site, El Segundo, CA with strong growth and equity opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in system design, test planning, and validation.
• Proficiency in Python programming.

Responsibilities

• Define project scopes and requirements; guide designs from concept to prototype to production.
• Develop electrical architecture, system diagrams, and budgets for power, telemetry, and mass.
• Analyze architecture for faults, develop mitigations, and support FDIR or workarounds.
• Create verification plans for avionics systems on flight and HITL hardware.
• Participate in mission operations as an Avionics specialist or system operator.
• Oversee integration of Winnebago avionics and lead system investigations.
• Design and operate HITL testbeds to ensure mission readiness.
• Develop avionics ground infrastructure and test racks for flight vehicles.
