Job summary

Carthage System - Professional Swine Management LLC in Pecatonica, IL is seeking a Sow Farm Manager to lead daily care of swine, oversee feeding, watering, welfare, and the farm team. You will drive efficiency and animal health across all on-farm activities.

You will set breeding and farrowing goals, manage costs related to feed and labor, enforce SOPs, and maintain meticulous records while coordinating with nearby landowners and ensuring biosecurity standards.

Qualifications

• A B.S degree in Animal Science or equivalent is preferred AND/OR
• A minimum of 3-5 years related experience in swine production AND
• Minimum of 1 year people management experience OR
• A combination of above

Responsibilities

• Ensures animals are cared for daily, including water, feed and management
• Builds, leads, and trains a successful team to carry out tasks
• Complies with SOPs
• Assists in controlling costs related to feed, supplies and labor
• Sets long and short term breeding and farrowing targets
• Maintains accurate record-keeping
• Oversees completion of special projects
• Makes recommendations for operational improvements
• Conducts safety training and ensures safe work practices
• Performs maintenance of buildings, grounds and equipment
• Maintains open communication with neighboring landowners
• Adheres to biosecurity practices to safeguard animal health
• Ensures welfare of animals
• Assists with other duties as assigned
