Job summary

Acts Retirement-Life Communities is seeking a dedicated sous chef to oversee food prep across production environments, supervise sanitation staff, and support hiring and training of kitchen staff. The role ensures smooth daily operations in the absence of the Executive Chef, with opening/closing duties and ordering responsibilities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of four years’ progressive responsibility in a full-service restaurant, catering, healthcare, country club/hotel, or cruise line environment.
• ServeSafe Certification (preferred).
• Experienced in all cooking stations and methods.

Responsibilities

• Oversee food preparation and cooking in all production environments.
• Direct and support day-to-day operations and supervise the food production and sanitation staff.
• Assist with hiring and training of new kitchen staff.
• Take charge of daily duties in the absence of the Executive Chef.
• Open and close the kitchen and perform side duties as directed by the Executive Chef.
• Participate in inventory, develop par sheets, and place food and supply orders.
