Job summary

Creative Dining Services is seeking a full-time Sous Chef for Auto Owners Insurance in Lansing, MI. The role focuses on directing food preparation, supervising staff, and ensuring exceptional dining experiences for corporate diners and guests.

Position offers a Monday–Friday schedule (6:00 am–2:30 pm), with no nights or weekends. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) matching, paid time off, shift meals, EAP, early wage access, and quarterly bonuses.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• 2-3 years of professional culinary experience.
• Culinary Arts Degree preferred.
• Supervisory experience preferred.
• ServSafe Certification.
• First Aid Training.

Responsibilities

• Culinary support under the direction of the Executive Chef, preparing items per recipes while maintaining freshness, quality and appeal.
• Kitchen support including proper labeling and dating of stored items.
• Maintain production records, logs, and a clean, sanitized work environment following health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.

Role Overview: The Sous Chef is a valued Dining Services member responsible for assisting in producing meals for corporate diners and their guests every week. They are primarily responsible for planning and directing food preparation. This includes supervising staff and performing other administrative duties.

Core Responsibilities:

• Culinary Support: Under the direction of the Executive Chef, prepare food items according to established recipes and menus in a way that preserves food freshness, quality, and appeal.
• Kitchen Support: Store food items according to established standards of practice; utilize proper labeling and dating.
• Maintain Cleanliness :Maintain production records and logs (food usage, overages, shortages, customer counts, etc.). Maintain a clean and sanitized work environment. Ensures that all sanitation guidelines, health codes set by local and state Health Departments, as well as OSHA, are being followed.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent
• 2-3 years of Professional Culinary Experience
• Culinary Arts Degree Preferred
