Job Summary

As a Sous Chef, you will play a key role in the successful operation of the Culinary Department at the Ford Foundation. You will assist in supervising, preparing, and cooking various food items, while helping develop daily menu items, their preparation, and presentation. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven, entrepreneurial culinary professional with a passion for food and hospitality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Executive Chef in managing cost controls and expenditures for the account
  • Assist in planning and creating menus
  • Produce and execute catering events
  • Implement new culinary programs in collaboration with Company marketing and culinary teams
  • Supervise hourly associates as needed and ensure high-quality food production

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Progressive culinary/kitchen management experience based on formal training or background
  • Strong preference for candidates with restaurant and catering experience
  • Experience in high-volume, complex foodservice operations highly desirable
  • Institutional and batch cooking experience is a plus
  • In-depth knowledge of current food and catering trends, with an emphasis on quality, production, sanitation, food cost control, and presentation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, and Internet tools
  • Willingness to participate in client satisfaction initiatives
  • ServSafe certification highly desirable
