Job summary

LewisGale Hospital Pulaski in Pulaski, Virginia, is seeking an experienced culinary leader to oversee daily food production for Patient Food Service, Physicians Dining Room, Cafeteria and catering operations.

You will ensure HACCP and sanitation standards, supervise staff, contribute to menu development, coordinate large events, and promote exceptional patient service with a culture of safety.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Culinary Arts or related degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of professional culinary leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of food, catering trends and sanitation standards.
  • Food Service Manager Certification required within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily food production for Patient Food Service, Physicians Dining Room, Cafeteria and Catering.
  • Ensure all food items are prepared, served and stored per HACCP and sanitation standards.
  • Supervise staff; assist in hiring, coaching and development; document evaluations.
  • Assist with menu development and coordination of large catered events.
  • Promote positive patient interactions and exceptional service.
  • Monitor attendance and overtime using KRONOS per facility procedures.

Job Summary And Qualifications
  • Responsible for overseeing the daily food production operations for Patient Food Service, Physicians Dining Room, Cafeteria and Catering.
  • Ensures that all food items are prepared, served and stored according to HACCP and regulatory agency standards. Maintains high standards of quality, safety and sanitation.
  • Effectively supervises staff, assists in the hiring, counseling ,coaching and development of staff. Appropriately documents all staff records, i.e., annual evaluations, disciplinary process, etc.
  • Assists with menu development for cafeteria, physicians dining, catering events and patients. Assists with coordination of large catered functions.
  • Assumes accountability for promoting consistent, positive patient interactions that advance the agenda of unparalleled patient service.
  • Monitor employee attendance for timeliness, accrual of incremental overtime utilizing KRONOS on a daily basis per facility procedures.
What qualifications you will need:
  • Associates Degree in Culinary Arts from an accredited program, Associates Degree, or Technical Degree in related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3-5 years Professional Culinary Leadership experience in a high volume, fine dining restaurant, country club, hotel or healthcare organization required
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food & catering trends with focus on quality, sanitation, production & presentation required
  • Food Service Manager’s Certification Required within 90 days of hire
