The Salt Line Bethesda is looking for a Sous Chef to join The Salt Line culinary team! .

The Salt Line is growing! Building on the tremendous success of the original The Salt Line (Navy Yard DC) and continued success with the second The Salt Line (Ballston VA), Longshot Hospitality is thrilled to have opened it's third The Salt Line in the heart of Bethesda on Bethesda Row. The restaurant opened on July 11th, 2023 and was an immediate neighborhood hit right out of the gate.

We are looking for an experienced and enthusastic sous chef to join The Salt Line Bethesda management team and help lead this latest addition to the growing The Salt Line family

Little bit about us: The original The Salt Line, located across the street from Nats park in the Navy Yard neighborhood, has firmly established itself as one of the best, busiest and most beloved restaurants in Washington DC. Both neighborhood go-to spot and acclaimed dining destination, TSL has received numerous accolades since opening in fall of 2017, including a coveted three stars from the Washington Post's Tom Sietsema. the 2019 Rammy for Chef of the Year to Kyle Bailey, and the 2020 Rammy for Favorite Gathering Place.

The Salt Line's menu draws inspiration from "New England meets the Chesapeake". Chef Kyle and team deliver New England classics while additionally putting their culinary talents and skills on display with creative offerings such as seafood charcuterie, crudos, and chef driven seafood entrees. The program focuses on locality and sustainability and prides itself on offering the best seafood available. Due to this, you can expect to handle all manner of seafood in a technique-driven, unpretentious kitchen environment. You will also work with our team executing whole animal butchery, homemade pastas and breads, real scratch cooking, and preservation methods.

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a culinary role, preferably in a restaurant or hospitality setting
  • Proven experience in restaurant management or food service management
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively supervise and train kitchen staff
  • Extensive knowledge of food production, food management, and kitchen operations
  • Excellent culinary skills with a focus on quality, taste, and presentation
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Experience with banquet or large-scale event planning is a plus
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
  • Professional, friendly, punctual, reliable, drama free
  • Team oriented collaborative mindset and positive can do attitude

Sample Duties & Expectations:

  • Assist the head chef in overseeing and managing all aspects of the kitchen operations
  • Help plan and develop menus, ensuring variety and quality of food offerings
  • Supervise, train and develop kitchen staff, ensuring they adhere to food safety and sanitation standards
  • Collaborate with the head chef to create new dishes and recipes
  • Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed
  • Ensure proper storage and rotation of food items to minimize waste and maintain and meet food cost targets
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment
  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of meals as needed
