Job summary

SMT, Inc. is seeking a Sourcing Specialist to support the Sourcing Manager in issuing RFQs, evaluating supplier quotes, maintaining supplier data, and ensuring accurate sourcing decisions.

You will collaborate with Purchasing, Engineering, and Quality to gather requirements and resolve supplier issues, contributing to cost-effective production and on-time commitments. The role requires experience with BOMs, drawings, and ERP/MRP systems, plus strong attention to detail and analytical skills.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
• 2+ years of sourcing/procurement experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Experience with BOMs, drawings, and product specifications preferred.
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel, including building quote comparison spreadsheets.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and issue RFQs based on drawings, BOMs, specifications, and production needs.
• Research new suppliers and alternate sources for sourcing manager review.
• Support cost-reduction projects and supplier consolidation efforts.
• Negotiate pricing, lead times, and terms on routine purchases within guidelines.
• Prepare supplier quote comparisons and summaries for review.
• Verify quotations for accurate pricing, quantities, units, and terms.
• Identify discrepancies between drawings, BOMs, quotations, and supplier data.
• Provide material pricing information to support quotations and costing.
• Track material price and lead-time changes and report significant changes.
