Job summary

Cambrex Charles City is seeking a Sourcing Specialist to lead strategic sourcing across multiple spend categories including raw materials, equipment, services and new supply chain opportunities.

You will work with vendors to obtain samples and quotes, negotiate pricing, and support new product development with project teams. This role requires several years in materials management and strong negotiation skills.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of experience in materials management or new project management involving procuring new raw materials.
• Experience negotiating pricing, contracts or other services.
• Associate degree in business management or related field.
• High school diploma required; Bachelor degree beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Source materials and services for existing and new supply chain opportunities.
• Identify multiple sources for key raw materials.
• Secure samples and formal price quotes from vendors.
• Negotiate pricing with Materials Director for materials or services.
• Source/new raw materials to support product development with Project Managers.
• Back-up for buyer and host vendor visits/meetings.

The principle purpose of the Sourcing Specialist at Cambrex Charles City, inc is leading strategic sourcing activities for multiple spend categories including raw materials, equipment, services and new supply chain opportunities with a goal of achieving significant reductions in total material costs and providing multiple approved suppliers for key raw materials.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

• Source materials, services for existing and new supply chain opportunities.
• Identify multiple sources for key raw materials
• Working with vendors, secure samples and formal price quotes for purchasing consideration.
• Working with Materials Director, negotiate material pricing for new and existing materials or services.
• Working with Project Managers and Chemical Development staff, source/price new raw materials and other services needed to support new product development efforts.
• Work with the Buyer and act as back-up for buyer in their absence.
• Host vendor visits and meetings.

Requirements:

• Associate degree in business management or related field. High school diploma required, Bachelor degree beneficial
• Three or more years of experience in materials management or new project management involving procuring new raw materials
• Experience negotiating pricing, contracts or other services.
