Job summary

Our client, an established manufacturing company based in Scottsdale, Arizona, seeks an experienced Strategic Sourcing Manager to strengthen its supplier network and improve procurement efficiency. You will lead supplier development, strategy, and cost-optimization efforts while collaborating with engineering, production, and purchasing teams.

Responsibilities include evaluating suppliers, negotiating pricing, and leveraging ERP tools to enhance sourcing and inventory planning.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in strategic sourcing or procurement within manufacturing.
• Experience sourcing CNC-machined components.
• Ability to build supplier relationships and networks from the ground up.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Proven negotiation and cost-reduction track record.
• Experience with ERP, inventory planning, and domestic/international sourcing.

Our client is an established manufacturing company based in Scottsdale, Arizona, specializing in the development and production of mechanical and engineered products. With a strong focus on innovation, quality, and continuous improvement, the organization is investing in new technologies and expanding its product capabilities. They are looking to add an experienced Strategic Sourcing Manager to strengthen their supplier network, improve procurement efficiency, and support the company's continued growth.

Role Responsibilities

• Supplier Development: Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with new domestic and international suppliers while strengthening existing vendor partnerships.
• Strategic Sourcing: Lead sourcing initiatives for CNC-machined, milled, turned, and other precision-manufactured components, ensuring competitive pricing, quality, and delivery.
• Cost Optimization: Identify cost-saving opportunities, evaluate supplier quotations, negotiate pricing, and implement strategies to reduce overall manufacturing and procurement costs.
• Technical Evaluation: Review engineering drawings, specifications, and manufacturing requirements to identify qualified suppliers with the appropriate equipment and production capabilities.
• Supplier Performance: Assess and monitor supplier quality, lead times, production capabilities, and reliability to ensure consistent supply chain performance.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, production, and purchasing teams to support technical sourcing requirements, new product development, and material availability.
• Supply Chain Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes, inventory planning, forecasting, and overall supply chain efficiency.
• Systems & Technology: Leverage ERP systems, procurement tools, and emerging technologies, including AI, to improve supplier research, sourcing strategies, and operational effectiveness.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, supplier development, or purchasing within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong understanding of CNC machining, milling, turning, and other precision manufacturing processes, with experience sourcing machined components.
• Demonstrated ability to develop supplier relationships and build a network of qualified manufacturing partners from the ground up.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and GD&T requirements.
• Proven negotiation skills with a track record of identifying cost-reduction opportunities and improving supplier performance.
• Experience working cross-functionally with engineering and production teams, along with familiarity with ERP systems, inventory planning, and domestic/international sourcing.
