Job Summary

Events & Venues at George Washington University seeks a part‑time Sound Board Operator for the Foggy Bottom Campus. The role requires an on‑call reporting status, occasional night and weekend work, and reporting to the Foggy Bottom Campus in Washington, DC. Responsibilities include operating and maintaining sound systems for rehearsals, shows, and events across multiple GWU venues.

Responsibilities
  • Operate sound systems for rehearsals and shows
  • Mix and master live audio for a variety of events
  • Maintain and supervise the maintenance of Lisner Auditorium’s sound equipment and inventory
  • Report status of show needs and maintenance needs to the Venue Manager
  • Supervise crew on band setup and soundcheck (interim and master categories)
  • Assist other departments (Lights, Audio Visual, Carpentry, Rigging, etc.) as directed by the Venue Manager
  • Work with and supervise other GWU venues and students with their sound needs
  • Recommend upgrades and improvements in sound needs for the auditorium and other GWU venues
  • Perform other related duties as assigned; the omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning logically related tasks
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED plus 3 years of relevant professional experience, or a bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field (degree must be conferred by the start date)
  • Proficiency in Digidesign or equivalent audio editing suite, Microsoft Office, and other basic computer software programs
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with sound equipment in a large venue setting
  • Knowledge of audio production for live events
  • Strong organizational and supervisory skills
Work Schedule

Part‑time; approximately 20 hours per week. Work schedule varies and may include evenings, nights, weekends, and any week day. On‑call reporting status required.
