Job summary

UAB Medicine in Hoover, AL seeks a Registered Diagnostic Sonographer to perform diagnostic ultrasound exams and generate quality images for interpretation. The role requires setup of equipment, operation of transducers, safety compliance, and QC.

Candidates must have RDMS or ARRT Advanced in Sonography (R.T.(S)) and BLS within 30 days of hire; education can be a high school diploma with experience or an Associate's/Technical degree. PRN schedule, on-site work.

Qualifications

• Registered RDMS or ARRT with Advanced certification in Sonography (R.T.(S)).
• BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association within 30 days of hire.
• Education: high school diploma or equivalent with 2 years of experience, or an Associate's/Technical degree.

• Performs diagnostic ultrasound exams and produces quality images for interpretation.
• Sets up and adjusts all equipment; manually maneuvers transducers to perform exams.
• Maintains safety standards and conducts quality control procedures.
• Performs routine and complex studies, assisting in various imaging procedures.
• Recognizes structures, artifacts, pathology and equipment limitations; reports issues.
• Ensures prompt submission of high-quality images and patient data to PACS.

Job Description

Performs diagnostic procedures on patients using ultrasound waves to examine tissue and body structure, providing quality images for interpretation.

• Sets up and adjusts all equipment and manually maneuvers transducers to perform exams.
• Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures.
• Performs routine and complex studies and assists in a variety of imaging procedures.
• Recognizes significant structures, artifacts, pathology and equipment limitations.
• Ensures equipment is properly functioning. Reports potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel. Lock/tag out equipment if appropriate.
• Ensures prompt submission of high-quality of all images and documents sent to PACS (image quality, correct lead markers and patient data/history).
• Assists in maintaining a clean, and orderly department to include procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage area and any other areas in department.
• Maintains compliance with regulatory agencies.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Within 12-months of hire or transfer:
  • Registered as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) OR
  • Registered as a Registered Technologist (R.T.) with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) with Advanced certification in Sonography (R.T.(S

• Registered as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) OR
