Job summary

Novant Health is seeking a Sonographer III to support diagnostic ultrasound services at Scotts Hill Medical Center in Wilmington, NC. You will create high-quality images, guide patients, and collaborate with physicians to ensure accurate exams.

The role requires ARDMS certification in three specialties, a registered ARRT/CAAHEP sonography program, and at least three years of experience in sonography. This is a PRN position with opportunities for growth within Novant Health.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Create high-quality diagnostic images by applying anatomy and pathology knowledge with ultrasound equipment.
• Guide patients through exams, ensuring comfort and understanding based on age and condition.
• Optimize each study following protocols while prioritizing image quality and patient safety.
• Evaluate images in real time for quality and accuracy, adjusting as needed.
• Coordinate with physicians and imaging team to ensure timely availability of images and clinical data.

What You’ll Do

• Create high-quality diagnostic images by combining your knowledge of anatomy and pathology with your technical expertise at the ultrasound equipment.
• Guide patients through their exams, adapting your approach to their age, condition and individual needs while helping them feel comfortable and informed.
• Use your clinical judgment to optimize each study, following established protocols while prioritizing image quality and patient safety.
• Evaluate your images in real time for quality, accuracy and completeness, making adjustments when needed to help deliver a successful exam.
• Keep care moving by partnering with physicians and the imaging team and ensuring images and relevant clinical information are available for timely review.

What We’re Looking For

• Education: 2 Year / Associate Degree, preferred. Graduate of ARRT-approved Program or CAAHEP-recognized Sonography Program, required.
• Experience: Minimum of three years of experience in sonography, required.
• Licensure/Certification: Certified and registered by ARDMS in three specialties.
• Vascular Technology is a required specialty.
• Pediatric Sonography or Obstetrics and Gynecology is a required specialty.
• Breast Sonography is excluded from one of the three required.
• Vascular Technology – RT(S)(VS) or RDMS, RT(VS) or RDMS, RVT, VT, required.
• Pediatric Sonography – RDMS, PS or Obstetrics/Gynecology – RDMS, OB/GYN, required.
• Applicable state license, required.
