Solis Mammography in Orlando is seeking a Breast Sonographer II to independently operate ultrasound equipment, obtain measurements, and communicate results with radiologists while ensuring patient comfort and safety.

The role requires graduation from an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program and active ARDMS/ARRT certification; Sonographer II typically has 5+ years of experience or ARDMS BR registry.

Qualifications

  • Requirements include graduation from an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program and ARDMS/ARRT certification eligibility.
  • Experience levels defined: Sonographer I 0–4.9 yrs, Sonographer II 5+ yrs or ARDMS BR registry.
  • Proficient reading/writing of medical terminology; effective patient education and communication.

Responsibilities

  • Operate sonography equipment independently to acquire accurate breast imaging.
  • Communicate findings and coordinate with radiologists; document exam data.
  • Maintain equipment and ensure patient comfort and safety throughout procedures.

Breast Sonographer II
Work Location

Orlando, FL

Work Hours

M-F 8am-5pm

The Breast Sonographer II is responsible for the independent operation of sonography equipment to create necessary images and obtain measurements. Individual must maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and scanning technique. Communicates with the patient and relays any pertinent information to the radiologist and documents on tracking sheet/chart. Communicates with the radiologist and understands and performs any necessary additional exams. Sonographer level I or II is determined by years of experience and advanced breast registry certification (see experience section for details).

Here Is What You Will Need
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program. For exceptions and training outside the US, educational requirements will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and require HR approval.
  • Certificates: Active certification with ARDMS (SPI only is not eligible for hire) or ARRT(S). ARRT-BS is also acceptable if performing breast sonography only. Current compliance with CME requirements. Exceptions require HR approval.
  • Experience Leveling: Sonographer I has 0-4.9 years of experience, as determined by sonography registry certification date. Sonographer II has 5+ years of experience OR ARDMS(BR) registry regardless of years of experience.
  • Language Skills: Ability to effectively communicate to patients the procedures and educate women about the role of regular mammography in preventative breast health. Ability to read and write and comprehend medical terminology. Ability to effectively communicate information on a one-on-one and small group basis to doctors, patients, and other employees.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed and sometimes involved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Computer Skills: Knowledge of database software and RIS/PACS software.
  • Physical demands: Needs to be able to stand for long periods of time.
A Day in the Life of a Breast Sonographer II
  • Provide services and support for the following areas:
  • Understands, promotes and demonstrates the Solis Way
  • Produces high quality ultrasound images and obtain appropriate measurements for each exam
  • Documents all applicable patient and procedure data consistently and correctly
  • Explains procedures adequately to patients to maximize patient comfort and cooperation
  • Appropriate monitoring during all phases of procedure with special care taken to insure patient emotional and physical well-being
  • Assist and/or chaperones radiologist when they are performing ultrasound exams
  • Assists radiologists during ultrasound biopsy procedures using appropriate sterile technique and universal precautions
  • Communicates patient information in a professional and courteous manner to patients and to referring physicians' offices as required.
  • Maintains the ultrasound equipment for cleanliness and insures proper equipment maintenance and equipment safety
  • Maintains a good working relationship with Radiologists and other Center staff members
  • Other duties as assigned
