Job summary

Solis Mammography is seeking a Diagnostic Breast Sonographer to perform high-quality ultrasound imaging and measurements for breast exams at our Houston site. The role requires ARDMS certification, a CAAHEP-accredited Sonography program, and strong patient communication skills.

Full-time schedule is Monday–Friday 7:30am–4:00pm with no weekends. Candidates should be able to stand for long periods and work closely with radiologists to ensure accurate diagnoses and patient comfort.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program accredited by CAAHEP.
• Active ARDMS certification with CME compliance.
• Ability to communicate procedures to patients and educate about mammography in preventive breast health.
• Ability to read/write and understand medical terminology; communicate with doctors and patients.
• Able to apply common sense to follow detailed written or oral instructions; handle concrete problems.
• Knowledge of RIS/PACS software for imaging data handling.
• Physical ability to stand for long periods during exams.

Responsibilities

• Operate sonography equipment independently to produce high-quality breast images.
• Obtain accurate measurements and document exam data.
• Communicate results and procedures clearly to patients and radiologists.
• Assist radiologists during ultrasound biopsies with sterile technique.
• Maintain patient comfort, emotional well-being, and safety during procedures.
• Document procedures and patient information consistently in tracking sheets.

Diagnostic Breast Sonographer

Work Hours:

(Full-Time) Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:00pm (No Weekends!)

The Diagnostic Sonographer is responsible for the independent operation of sonography equipment to create necessary images and obtain measurements. Individual must maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and scanning technique. Communicates with the patient and relays any pertinent information to the radiologist and documents on tracking sheet/chart. Communicates with the radiologist and understands and performs any necessary additional exams.

Here Is What You Will Need

• Education: Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program that is accredited by the Commission Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program.
• Certificates: Active certification with ARDMS. Current compliance with CME requirements.
• Language Skills: Ability to effectively communicate to patients the procedures and educate women about the role of regular mammography in preventative breast health.
• Ability to read and write and comprehend medical terminology. Ability to effectively communicate information on a one-on-one and small group basis to doctors, patients, and other employees.
• Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed and sometimes involved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Computer Skills: Knowledge of database software and RIS/PACS software.
• Physical demands: Needs to be able to stand for long periods of time.

A Day in the Life of a Diagnostic Breast Sonographer.

• Provide services and support for the following areas:
  • Understands, promotes and demonstrates the Solis Way
  • Produces high quality ultrasound images and obtain appropriate measurements for each exam
  • Documents all applicable patient and procedure data consistently and correctly
  • Explains procedures adequately to patients to maximize patient comfort and cooperation
  • Appropriate monitoring during all phases of procedure with special care taken to insure patient emotional and physical well-being
  • Assist and/or chaperones radiologist when they are performing ultrasound exams
  • Assists radiologists during ultrasound biopsy procedures using appropriate sterile technique and universal precautions
  • Communicates patient information in a professional and courteous manner to patients and to referring physicians’ offices as required.
