Job summary

Solis Mammography seeks a Diagnostic Breast Sonographer to perform independent ultrasound imaging, obtain measurements, and communicate results to radiologists. The role requires ARDMS certification, a CAAHEP-accredited program, and strong patient interaction skills.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program accredited by CAAHEP.
  • Active ARDMS certification and CME compliance.
  • Ability to explain procedures to patients and educate about mammography.
  • Must read/write medical terminology and communicate with doctors, patients, and staff.
  • Reasoning skills to follow instructions and solve routine problems.
  • Knowledge of database and RIS/PACS software.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

  • Operate ultrasound equipment and produce high-quality images for each exam.
  • Communicate with patients and relay information to radiologist.
  • Document patient and procedure data accurately on tracking sheets.
  • Assist radiologists during ultrasound biopsy procedures with sterile technique.
  • Maintain ultrasound equipment cleanliness and safety.
  • Chaperone radiologist during exams when needed.

Work Hours

Full‑Time, Monday‑Friday 7:30am‑4:00pm

The Diagnostic Sonographer is responsible for the independent operation of sonography equipment to create necessary images and obtain measurements. Must maintain high accuracy in positioning and scanning technique. Communicates with the patient and relays any pertinent information to the radiologist and documents on tracking sheet/chart. Must understand and perform any necessary additional exams.

Here Is What You Will Need
  • Education: Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.
  • Certificates: Active certification with ARDMS and current compliance with CME requirements.
  • Language Skills: Ability to effectively communicate procedures to patients and educate women about mandatory mammography for preventative breast health.
  • Must read, write, and comprehend medical terminology and effectively communicate information on a one‑on‑one and small‑group basis to doctors, patients, and other employees.
  • Reasoning Ability: Must apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed and sometimes involved written or oral instructions and problem‑solve in standardized situations.
  • Computer Skills: Knowledge of database software and RIS/PACS software.
  • Physical demands: Must be able to stand for long periods.
A Day in the Life of a Diagnostic Breast Sonographer
  • Provide services and support for the following areas:
    • Understand, promote, and demonstrate the Solis Way.
    • Produce high‑quality ultrasound images and obtain appropriate measurements for each exam.
    • Document all applicable patient and procedure data consistently and correctly.
    • Explain procedures adequately to patients to maximize patient comfort and cooperation.
    • Appropriate monitoring during all phases of procedure with special care taken to ensure patient emotional and physical well‑being.
    • Assist and/or chaperone radiologist when performing ultrasound exams.
    • Assist radiologists during ultrasound biopsy procedures using appropriate sterile technique and universal precautions.
    • Communicate patient information in a professional and courteous manner to patients and referring physicians’ offices as required.
    • Maintain the ultrasound equipment for cleanliness and ensuring proper maintenance and equipment safety.
    • Maintain a good working relationship with radiologists and other center staff members.
