North Alabama Medical Center in Florence, AL is seeking a Sonographer to perform diagnostic ultrasonographic procedures under physician guidance. The role requires an associate's degree in ultrasound or equivalent, ARDMS registration or eligibility, and BLS certification.

The candidate will assist radiologists and maintain equipment while ensuring patient comfort and accurate records. The position reports to the Imaging Director, with a focus on quality imaging, infection control, and efficient

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Ultrasound/Sonography or equivalent required.
• ARDMS registered or eligible; must pass a test in at least one area (e.g. Abdomen, OBGYN) including physics within one year of employment.
• State license to practice as a Sonographer.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Receives patients; explains method of procedure and ensures patient comfort.
• Operates ultrasound equipment to perform diagnostic exams.
• Maintains equipment and organizes the work area.
• Keeps accurate records and assists with scheduling of ultrasound.

How You'll Contribute

Under the general guidance of the physicians/providers performs a variety of diagnostic ultrasonographic procedures.

Reports to: Imaging Director

FLSA: Non-exempt

Education: Associate's degree Required; Graduate of approved program of Ultrasound/Sonography or equivalent.

Licenses: ARDMS Registered or if new graduate, must be ARDMS eligible and pass a test in at least one area (i.e. Abdomen, OBGYN) including physics within one year of employment. State license to practice as a Sonographer.

Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS)

Essential Functions

Receives patients, explains method of procedure and makes sure patient is comfortable.

Provides patient services to all ages using imaging modalities.

Operates ultrasound equipment to perform clinical diagnostic ultrasound exams and routine invasive procedures according to established standards and practices.

Maintains equipment and supplies and organizes work area.

Keeps accurate records, helps with scheduling of the ultrasound and keeps patient flow smooth.

Checks the physician's requisition for complete information on the procedure requested' refers any questions to the ultrasound physician before performing the procedure.

Assists the radiologist/referring physician in invasive procedures using sterile technique while maintaining infection control guidelines.

Recognizes the significance of all structures that are visualized on the monitor and be able to differentiate artifacts from anatomic/pathologic structures within equipment limitations.

Possesses an in-depth knowledge of anatomy/physiology, technical expertise and able to improve standard procedures to enhance diagnostic results when needed.
