North Alabama Medical Center is seeking a Multiskilled Technician for the Emergency Department on a full-time mid shift. The role supports patient care in a fast-paced ED, performing vital sign monitoring, basic clinical tasks, and documentation while collaborating with nurses and physicians to deliver high-quality care.

The position emphasizes patient observation, ADL assistance, and timely reporting of clinical changes, with duties extending to administrative support to nursing stations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Current BLS certification required.
• ED or Registration experience preferred.
• Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment; navigation of multiple software systems; effective English communication.

Responsabilités

• Monitor vital signs and record results.
• Obtain blood glucose measurements.
• Track and document patient intake and output.
• Assist with ADLs: bathing, grooming, feeding.
• Observe and report changes to nursing team promptly.

How You'll Contribute

A Multiskilled Technician who excels in this role:

Patient Care Responsibilities

• Perform basic patient care activities as delegated, including:
  • Monitoring and recording vital signs
  • Obtaining blood glucose measurements
  • Tracking and documenting patient intake and output
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including:
  • Bathing
  • Grooming
  • Feeding and meal assistance
• Observe and report changes in patients' physical, mental, or emotional status to the nursing team promptly.

Administrative & Support Duties

• Assist with maintaining clean, organized, and well-stocked patient rooms and care areas.
• Perform clerical and administrative duties in support of nursing station operations.
• Accurately document patient information and communicate effectively with the healthcare team.

What We're Looking For

Applicants should have a High School Diploma (or equivalent). Additional requirements include:

• Current BLS certification required
• Handle with Care preferred
• ED or Registration experience preferred
• Requires Critical thinking, decisive judgment, ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment; rapid learning and navigation of multiple software systems; effective English communication (read/write/speak); ability to complete the Skills Competency Checklist within 90 days of hire.
