Job summary

Memorial Medical Center, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Sonographer for a full-time on-site role in Las Cruces, NM. You will operate ultrasound equipment, perform diagnostic exams, and assist in invasive procedures to support patient care.

Required are an associate degree in a related field, ARDMS eligibility or certification, NM license, and BLS. The team emphasizes comprehensive benefits and ongoing professional development.

• Associate degree in a related field is required.
• ARDMS certification or eligibility with exam in Abdomen or OBGYN within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Receives patients, explains method of procedure and ensures comfort.
• Provides patient services to all ages using imaging modalities.
• Operates ultrasound equipment to perform clinical diagnostic exams and routine invasive procedures.
• Maintains equipment and organizes the work area.
• Keeps accurate records and helps with scheduling of ultrasound.
• Checks physician requisition for complete information and clarifications before procedures.
• Assists radiologist in invasive procedures using sterile technique and infection control guidelines.
• Recognizes structures on the monitor and differentiates artifacts from anatomy.

How You'll Contribute

• Receives patients, explains method of procedure and makes sure patients are comfortable.
• Provides patient services to all ages using imaging modalities.
• Operates ultrasound equipment to perform clinical diagnostic ultrasound exams and routine invasive procedures according to established standards and practices.
• Maintains equipment and supplies and organizes work area.
• Keeps accurate records, helps with scheduling of the ultrasound and keeps patient flow smooth.
• Checks the physician's requisition for complete information on the procedure requested; refers any questions to the ultrasound physician before performing the procedure.
• Assists the radiologist/referring physician in invasive procedures using sterile technique while maintaining infection control guidelines.
• Recognizes the significance of all structures that are visualized on the monitor and can differentiate artifacts from anatomic/pathologic structures within equipment limitations.

What we're looking for

Applicants should have an associate degree in a related field. Additional requirements include:

• Licenses/Certifications:
  • ARDMS registered or if new graduate, must be ARDMS eligible and pass a test in at least one area (i.e. Abdomen, OBGYN) including physics within one year of employment.
  • New Mexico license to practice as a Sonographer.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
