Job summary

Axia Women’s Health is recruiting a Per Diem MFM Sonographer for Abington Perinatal in Horsham, PA. Hours are flexible, Monday through Friday as needed. The role requires ARDMS OB/Gyn, NT and growth scan experience, and strong ultrasound skills.

The candidate will perform comprehensive tests, interpret results, and collaborate with OB/GYN teams. ARDMS certifications and EMR proficiency are emphasized, with opportunities to train others.

Qualifications

  • Formal education in diagnostic ultrasound is required.
  • Current RDMS certification from ARDMS in OB/GYN is required.
  • Minimum 2 years of OB/GYN and perinatal ultrasound experience including NT and growth scans.
  • Desirable FE certification with preference for FE experience; AB certification also listed.
  • Experience using eClinicalWorks EMR is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews prior images and imaging reports before ultrasound exam.
  • Reviews and verifies physician orders.
  • Prepares patients for diagnostic procedures and positions them for views.
  • Performs high-quality ultrasound exams including growth scans and NT scans per protocols.
  • Evaluates images, records numerical data, and documents in patient chart.
  • Maintains patient records and medical notes related to procedures.
  • Presents images and preliminary findings to physicians and care team.
  • Maintains and sterilizes ultrasound equipment and room between patients.
  • Uses PACS, EMR and related imaging systems.
  • Trains other Sonographers as needed.

We are currently recruiting for a Per Diem MFM Sonographer at Abington Perinatal in Horsham, PA

Hours are flexible, as needed Monday through Friday

Position Summary

A Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) Sonographer is a diagnostic ultrasound professional who is qualified to perform independent sonographic assessments of maternal-fetal conditions. A person in this role must be qualified by academic and clinical experience, along with professional credentialing which should include OB/GYN registry, as well as the nuchal translucency/nasal bone certification. Their responsibility is to provide diagnostic patient care services for routine and high-risk obstetrical cases using ultrasound and related diagnostic procedures. A MFM sonographer must have advanced knowledge in various fetal conditions and anomalies as well as knowledge of contributing high-risk maternal factors. In addition, the scope of practice of the diagnostic MFM sonographer includes those procedures, acts, and processes permitted by law, for which the individual has received education and clinical experience. This person must demonstrate competency and must hold the appropriate ARDMS certification(s), which is the standard of practice in ultrasound.

Job Description
  • Reviews any prior images and imaging reports prior to ultrasound exam.
  • Reviews and verifies physician’s orders.
  • Prepares patients for diagnostic procedures, explains procedures, measures and positions patients for each anatomical view.
  • Performs high-quality ultrasound examinations including comprehensive growth scans and Nuchal Translucency scans in accordance with approved techniques and protocols, ensuring the transducer (probe) is correctly capturing images.
  • Evaluates images for quality and interprets images captured; calculates, compiles and records data from numerical readings and records in patient chart.
  • Maintains patient records; adds medical notes related to the ultrasound procedure.
  • Presents images and preliminary findings to physicians and healthcare team.
  • Maintains ultrasound equipment and sterilizes room between ultrasound patients.
  • Utilizes PACs, EMR, and other systems related to imaging.
  • Stocks and replenishes supplies as required.
  • Maintains certifications by completing any assigned compliance and continuing education requirements.
  • Trains other Sonographers as needed.
  • Performs other associated tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Formal education and completion of an accredited Diagnostic Ultrasound program required.
  • Current RDMS certification from ARDMS in Ob/Gyn required.
  • At least 2 years’ recent experience performing OB/GYN and Perinatal ultrasounds including NT and comprehensive growth scans
  • Additional ARDMS certification in Fetal Echocardiography (FT) desirable; Previous experience with FE highly preferable.
  • Additional ARDMS certification in Abdomen (AB)
  • Previous experience using eClinicalWorks (EMR) beneficial.
  • Knowledge of specific order sets and related CPT coding a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately recognize and document pathology identified in scans.
  • Demonstrates thorough knowledge of ultrasound equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
