  • Technician expertise – Maintenance or on‑the‑job troubleshooting of APB‑15/ACB‑15 (or newer) equipment; resolve SQQ‑89 issues.
  • Travel - Willing/able to travel to customer site up to 25%.

  • Test‑Environment Integration – Configure test scenarios and connect equipment to SQQ‑89 hardware.

The Work
Responsibilities

LockheedMartin RMS is seeking a Test Engineer in Manassas, Virginia. In this role you will collaborate with industry‑leading design professionals and contribute to groundbreaking projects. Your responsibilities include:

  • Develop & Execute Test Cases – Design, review, and implement new test methodologies for the SQQ‑89 sonar suite.
  • Technical Review – Analyze system documentation and requirements; provide actionable input to the Systems Engineering team.
  • Requirement‑Based Testing – Perform witnessed system‑requirement tests, capture results, and distribute reports to all stakeholders.
  • Fleet Issue Replication – Evaluate field‑reported problems and recreate them in the laboratory to support root‑cause analysis and resolution.
  • Issue Documentation – Record deficiencies in the SQQ‑89 and its external interfaces with clear, reproducible steps and detailed descriptions.
  • Test‑Environment Integration – Partner with system integrators to configure test scenarios and connect simulation/stimulation equipment to the SQQ‑89 hardware.
Basic Qualifications

To excel in this role you should possess the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Navy background – Surface Sonar Technician (STG) or Submarine Sonar Technician (STS).
  • Leadership rank – Preferably E‑5 or E‑6; other ranks will be considered based on depth of experience.
  • Technician expertise – Maintenance or on‑the‑job troubleshooting of APB‑15/ACB‑15 (or newer) equipment; proven ability to resolve complex SQQ‑89 issues.
  • Travel - Selected candidate must be willing/able to travel to customer site as needed, up to 25%.
Desired Skills
  • Critical thinking – Demonstrated analytical problem‑solving in high‑tempo, mission‑critical environments.
  • Microsoft Office Skills – Proficiency with the full Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Communication – Strong oral and written skills; comfortable presenting technical data to diverse audiences.
  • Qualifications – Area Supervisor or Sonar Supervisor qualified (preferred); ESWS or SS qualified (preferred); CSOOW (preferred).
  • Professionalism – Ability to handle high‑stress, high‑demand situations; exercise sound judgment and discretion when reporting system‑impacting defects.
  • Computer‑Science Background – A degree in Computer Science or a closely related field is highly desirable, especially when combined with fleet experience.

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $79300.00 - $147300.00
