Job summary

The Location and Surveys Unit of the NC Department of Transportation seeks a skilled engineer to provide statewide geomatics analysis for transportation facilities, property acquisition, and data-driven design.

You will work with SONAR survey hardware and Hypack and Bentley CADD software to create accurate underwater surface models, supervise colleagues, and serve as a primary data resource for multiple divisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field of engineering from an accredited institution and four years of progressively responsible experience.
• Registration as a Professional Engineer may be required by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
• Experience with civil engineering principles, geomatics, and underwater bathometric surveys.
• Knowledge of SONAR survey data processing and map creation.

Responsibilities

• Provide statewide geomatics analysis in development of transportation facilities and property acquisition.
• Work with sonar hardware/software to create accurate surface models of underwater landforms.
• Supervise engineers and technicians in data collection, processing and delivery for design and analysis.
• Serve as primary data contact across divisions relying on collected data for engineering projects.
