Job summary

Choco, a leader in modernizing the food distribution ecosystem, is seeking a Solutions Engineer in Chicago. You will design and deliver API-driven integrations for mid-market customers using low-code tools, partnering with Sales and Customer Success to ensure successful outcomes.

This role is customer-facing, focusing on solution design and scalable integration delivery. You will own end-to-end integrations, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to product roadmaps.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of solutions engineering, IT/ERP consulting, or systems integration.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience managing end-to-end API integrations across multiple customer environments.
• Experience with low-code or automation tools such as n8n, Zapier, Tray.ai.
• Basic programming knowledge (JavaScript or Python) and working knowledge of REST APIs, JSON/XML, webhooks, authentication (OAuth, API keys), and data mapping.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a collaborative, solution-focused mindset.
• Excellent communicator with the ability to make complex ideas clear and simple.
• This position requires in-office attendance 3 days per week (T/W/Th) in our Chicago office.

• Collaborate closely with Customer Success, Implementation, and Product teams, sharing customer feedback to help shape the product roadmap.
• Share best practices and contribute to scaling integration delivery globally.

Mission

As a Solutions Engineer, you will deliver fast, reliable, API-driven integrations for mid-market customers by translating business workflows into scalable, repeatable technical solutions. You will partner closely with Sales and Customer Success to deliver best-in-class integration experiences that drive adoption and long-term success. This role is primarily customer-facing, with a strong focus on solution design and customer outcomes rather than traditional software development. You'll build integrations primarily with low-code tools, using light scripting where needed.

What You’ll Do

• Design, build, and deliver integrations between Choco and customer systems using low-code tools (e.g. n8n and Tray.ai).

What You Bring

• 2+ years of experience in solutions engineering, IT/ERP consulting, or systems integration.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience managing end-to-end API integrations, including requirements gathering, solution design, implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing support across multiple customer environments.
• Experience with low-code or automation tools such as n8n, Zapier, and Tray.ai.
• Basic programming knowledge (e.g. JavaScript or Python) and working knowledge of REST APIs, JSON/XML, webhooks, authentication (OAuth, API keys), and data mapping.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a collaborative, solution-focused mindset.

Nice to Have

• Experience with the ERP or ordering systems common among food and beverage distributors.
• Background in food distribution, supply chain, or B2B SaaS.
• Familiarity with EDI, SFTP/flat-file integrations, or basic SQL.
• Comfort using AI tools to speed up discovery, documentation, and integration builds.
