The Solution Architect (SA) role is a KEY pre-sales technical position in Alibaba Cloud’s international business division. Our seasoned solution architects offer comprehensive IT knowledge and industry insights when crafting solutions for customers and partners. Solution Architects are ultimately responsible for architecting cloud and data transformation solutions that enable customer and partner success. The role can be based in Sunnyvale, California and Washington D.C., Seattle.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Working closely with customers and partners to ensure successful solution delivery of Alibaba Cloud services

• As a thought leader, evangelizing and helping customers and partners understand the technical and business benefits of Alibaba Cloud products, solutions and services

• Understanding the unique requirements of customers and partners, and providing appropriate technical solutions and architecture designs based on Alibaba Cloud technologies, solutions and services

• Creating and presenting solution architecture designs to C-level/Senior personnel

• Responsible for demo development and testing Alibaba Cloud services when necessary

• Providing assistance to customers and partners to migrate their existing IT systems onto Alibaba Cloud

• Providing guidance in large enterprise implementation

Job Requirements

• Solid foundation in computer science and cloud computing, with a good understanding of network, compute, storage systems

• Solid experience with modern web stacks, big data or AI applications

• A minimum of 5+ years in solution architecture design or consulting with hands on large-scale implementation experiences in North America and Global

• Expert knowledge and understanding of solution architecture design, and familiar with architectural methodologies and practices in Internet based applications

• Familiarity with procedures and tools for application migration and cloud/virtualization solutions for Enterprise customers

• Ability to learn quickly and have a passion for cloud technology

• Ability to think strategically about business, products, and technical challenges

• Possess a passion for innovation, and helping customers and partners to achieve success

• Comfortable working for a global “start-up”, with high cultural diversity; ability to work in a fast-paced, high pressure, deadline-driven environment

• Excellent presentation, public speaking, and written communication skills

• Security, Big data, ML, AI experience is a plus

• 30-50% Travel required (Domestic and International)

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $122,000/year and $208,000/year. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
