Job summary

SmartRent seeks a Solutions Architect to lead project success and client satisfaction across pilots, feature requests, and custom integrations for our rental housing platform.

You will collaborate with product, engineering and account teams, plan projects, and communicate with key stakeholders to ensure adoption and architectural alignment with business goals.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a Solutions Architect, Technical Account Manager, Sales Engineer, or similar role.
  • SQL and HTML (or other common programming languages).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects from planning and scheduling to gathering and providing feedback.
  • Experience interacting with C-level clients or other key stakeholders.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (vlookup, pivot tables, etc.) with the ability to communicate key findings from large data sets.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize a ticketing queue efficiently (we use Jira + Intercom).
  • Experience with a CRM (we use Salesforce).

Responsibilities

  • Manage client relationships for custom integrations / implementations in the rental housing industry.
  • Become a recognized technical expert with the SmartRent product set and in identifying potential solutions for our clients.
  • Act as the point person for project management on customer adoption of new products.
  • Maintain and nurture relationships with existing clients to ensure our products are in constant alignment with their needs.
  • Analyze and evaluate client requirements to design effective and efficient solutions.
  • Review and refine architectural designs to ensure they align with business goals.
  • Ensure project goals are met while contributing to the efficiency and improvement of systems, processes and tools for both internal and external users.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to understand project requirements and objectives.
  • Participate in client meetings to communicate technical solutions and gather feedback.
  • Partner with Account Managers and Strategic Account Directors on account expansion, strategic planning, and Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), connecting client business needs with our software solutions by leveraging backend technical skills and data metrics to formulate actionable game plans for both new and existing customers
  • Educate internal and external groups on how to implement optimal strategies, techniques and user experience best practices
  • Manage a ticketing queue for internal teams dedicated to serving our clients.
  • Use advanced analytical skills to solve complex problems or problems that do not have routine solutions and takes a new perspective
  • Perform risk assessments and proactively address potential issues in the architecture.
  • Lead projects with manageable risks and resource requirements or small teams, handles day‑time staff management issues, including resource management and allocation of work
  • Create policies, procedures and best practice documentation
  • Conduct thorough risk management
  • Leverage AI tools and prompt engineering techniques as a standard part of the workflow — including drafting documentation, accelerating research, summarizing complex technical concepts for diverse audiences, and improving the speed and quality of client‑facing deliverables.
  • Champion AI literacy across internal and external stakeholders by modeling effective prompting practices, identifying use cases where AI can streamline implementations or integrations, and contributing to the development of team‑wide AI standards and guidelines.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.

Job Description

We are seeking a Solutions Architect who shares our vision of bringing the SmartRent product suite to the rental housing industry. In this role, you will be responsible for the overall project success and customer satisfaction with respect to new product pilots, client feature requests, custom integrations, and general implementation support for new or existing clients. You will be working with highly driven product, engineering, account management and field operation team members who have already delivered countless successful solutions to our customers. A successful candidate will have project planning and opportunity management skills, technical aptitude, as well as the ability to effectively communicate with key stakeholders. In this position, you will report to our Director of Solutions Architect.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Multi-family housing or Proptech industry experience
  • Previous experience at a SaaS or start-up company
  • Understanding of APIs and Webhooks
  • Experience performing User Acceptance Testing
  • Proficiency in system and software architecture design
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies and services (e.g., Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Familiarity with AI tools and large language models (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot) and experience applying prompt engineering in a professional or technical context.
