Job summary

SolutionHealth is seeking a Platform Engineer to serve as a second-tier contributor responsible for reliable operation, administration, and continuous improvement of enterprise platform services across cloud and on-prem environments.

You will work under the Manager, IT Platform Services, with independence, technical depth, and accountability while collaborating with cybersecurity, application teams, vendors, and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certificate or IT training; equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years in IT infrastructure operations, systems administration, cloud, server, storage, virtualization, SQL, email, data center, automation, backup, monitoring, or related platform engineering.
• Relevant infrastructure, cloud, or security certifications; or ability to obtain within 12 months; ITIL Foundation within 12 months.

Responsibilities

• Support and improve enterprise platform services daily under IT Platform Services management.
• Handle service requests, incident response, changes, patching, and upgrades within scope.
• Maintain documentation, knowledge articles, and operational records.
• Escalate risks, security concerns, or impact on patient care promptly.
• Administrative tasks for servers, storage, virtualization, cloud, and related infrastructure.

About the Job:

The Platform Engineer is the second tier in the Platform Services engineering career ladder and serves as a fully contributing individual contributor responsible for the reliable operation, administration, implementation, and continuous improvement of enterprise platform services. This role is one level above the Associate Platform Engineer and is expected to perform work with greater independence, technical depth, judgment, and accountability. Reporting to the Manager, IT Platform Services, the Platform Engineer supports and maintains infrastructure platforms across cloud and on-premise environments, including servers, virtualization, storage, data center technologies, cloud services, SQL platforms, email services, monitoring tools, automation tools, backup platforms, and related technologies that support clinical, administrative, and business operations. The Platform Engineer independently executes assigned operational, project, lifecycle, and service management responsibilities while escalating appropriately for complex architecture, design, or high-risk decisions. This role troubleshoots incidents, fulfills service requests, implements approved changes, supports patching and upgrades, contributes to automation and standardization, maintains accurate documentation, and partners with peer IT teams, cybersecurity, application teams, vendors, and business stakeholders. The position demonstrates the organization’s mission, values, and standards of behavior while serving as a dependable technical resource and developing toward more advanced senior engineering responsibilities within the tiered Platform Services role structure.

What You’ll Do:

• Independently support daily operation, monitoring, maintenance, documentation, and improvement of assigned enterprise platform services under the direction of the Manager, IT Platform Services
• Perform service requests, operational checks, ticket updates, monitoring reviews, backup validations, patch follow-up tasks, capacity reviews, and troubleshooting activities within assigned scope
• Apply documented procedures, standards, implementation plans, change controls, access requirements, validation steps, and escalation paths to ensure safe and reliable work execution
• Participate in and execute assigned incident response, service restoration, request fulfillment, change implementation, project support, maintenance windows, and lifecycle activities
• Escalate incidents, risks, failed procedures, unclear requirements, security concerns, capacity issues, service dependencies, or potential patient care impacts promptly and accurately
• Maintain accurate work notes, knowledge articles, support procedures, inventory records, diagrams, and operational documentation for assigned platform services
• Administer and support physical and virtual server, storage, backup, monitoring, data center, cloud, SQL, email, and infrastructure management tasks within assigned scope

Who You Are:

Education: Associate degree, technical certificate, completion of a relevant IT training program, or equivalent combination of education, certifications, and hands-on technical experience.

Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of directly related IT infrastructure operations, systems administration, cloud, server, storage, virtualization, SQL, email, data center, automation, backup, monitoring, or related platform engineering experience.
Licensure/certification: Relevant infrastructure, cloud, Microsoft, virtualization, server, storage, database, cybersecurity, automation, or related technical certification; or ability to obtain an approved role-relevant certification within 12 months of hire. ITIL Foundation certification within 12 months of hire.

Knowledge: Working knowledge of enterprise infrastructure concepts, including servers, operating systems, virtualization, storage, backup, monitoring, networking dependencies, cloud services, SQL platforms, email services, secure configuration practices, service dependencies, and operational risk management.
