Job description

Solution Sales Engineer, Cloud Storage – NYC

Our client is a fast-growing startup in the cloud storage space, seeking a Sales Engineer to support its pre-sales activities in the north-east of the United States. We are looking for a smart, highly technical team player with extensive sales experience who is enthusiastic about delivering storage solutions to leading Fortune 500 companies in North America. This is a home office-based role.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  1. 5+ years’ experience as a Sales Engineer in the storage and/or cloud industries
  2. Strong presentation and technical analysis skills
  3. Up to 50% travel with some overnight stays
  4. Storage experience – NAS, file systems, object storage. Protocols: CIFS/SMB, NFS. Background in deploying, securing, and managing file servers, backup, and archiving software.
  5. Cloud or virtualization experience – 2+ years’ experience in VMware (Datacenter Virtualization Certification) or AWS / Azure Certified Solution Architect
  6. Networking / Firewall experience – Proven knowledge of TCP/IP stack and protocols: HTTP, TLS, DNS, LDAP, SAML v2
  7. Experience with network troubleshooting tools such as WireShark
  8. Operating systems – Microsoft Windows Desktop and Server Platforms (Roles: ADDS & DNS) and Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu)
  9. Practical experience with enterprise backup and recovery platforms
  10. Documentation experience for guides, sales presentations, network diagrams, configuration diagrams, and asset management

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide product, service, or equipment technical and engineering information by answering questions and requests
  2. Support the sales cycle with technical sales support, including qualifying opportunities, solution design, sizing, and responding to RFI/RFPs
  3. Establish and maintain rapport with customers and partners
  4. Use professional concepts to resolve complex issues creatively and effectively
  5. Deliver technical presentations explaining products and services to customers and prospects
  6. Collaborate with sales teams to understand customer requirements and support them technically
  7. Conduct proof of concepts (POCs) with clear scope and success criteria
  8. Transfer knowledge through demos and hands-on training
  9. Gather and document product feedback and enhancement requests for Product Management
  10. Process orders in coordination with technical support
