Job description

Solution Sales Engineer, Cloud Storage – East Coast

Our client is a fast-growing startup in the cloud storage space, seeking a Sales Engineer to support its pre-sales activities in the north-east of the United States. We are looking for a smart, highly technical team player with extensive sales experience who is enthusiastic about delivering storage solutions to leading Fortune 500 companies in North America. This is a home office-based role.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  1. 5+ years’ experience as a Sales Engineer in storage and/or cloud industries
  2. Strong presentation and technical analysis skills
  3. Up to 50% travel with some overnight stays
  4. Storage experience – NAS, file-systems, object storage; Protocols: CIFS/SMB, NFS; background in deploying, securing, and managing file servers, backup, and archiving software
  5. Cloud or virtualization experience – 2+ years’ experience in VMware (Datacenter Virtualization Certification) or AWS / Azure Certified Solution Architect
  6. Networking / Firewall experience – Proven knowledge of TCP/IP stack and protocols: HTTP, TLS, DNS, LDAP, SAML v2
  7. Experience with network troubleshooting tools such as WireShark
  8. Operating systems – Microsoft Windows Desktop and Server Platforms (Roles: ADDS & DNS) and Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu)
  9. Practical experience with enterprise backup and recovery platforms
  10. Documentation skills for editing guides, sales presentations, network and configuration diagrams, and asset management

Responsibilities:

  1. Provide product, service, or equipment technical and engineering information by answering questions and requests
  2. Support the sales cycle with technical sales support, including qualifying opportunities, solution design, sizing, and responding to RFI’s and RFP’s
  3. Establish and maintain rapport with customers and partners
  4. Resolve complex issues creatively and effectively using professional concepts and company objectives
  5. Deliver technical presentations and demos to explain products and services
  6. Collaborate with sales teams to understand customer requirements and support sales efforts
  7. Conduct proofs of concept (POC’s) with clear scope and success criteria
  8. Transfer knowledge via demos and hands-on training sessions
  9. Collect feedback and requests for product enhancements (RFEs)
  10. Submit orders in coordination with technical support
