Responsibilities
The Solution Development Manager is responsible for understanding customer needs and leveraging E&C resources to develop competitive, comprehensive, and optimized gas solutions using the Lurgi portfolio (SMR, ATR, POX, etc.). Once the solution is selected, the Manager continues to support and may lead the proposal preparation, providing technical deliverables (technical specification, scope of work definition, etc.) as part of project development.
- Meet or exceed company’s safety standards and comply with E&C Global and Local engineering standards.
- Be the regional focal point for Air Liquide Over‑The‑Fence (Large Industries) project developments for Lurgi technologies.
- Support the E&C Third Party Sales team and Air Liquide businesses in technical exchanges with customers (presentations, conference participation, etc.).
- Manage development of the solution – initiate site visits, stakeholder brainstorming, scenario development meetings, etc.
- Lead the solution development effort with key technical deliverables (solution tables, scope of work definition, technical specifications, estimated cost, etc.) and evaluate options to select the best optimized solution.
- Work with Product Line(s), Technical and Proposal team to finalize design basis and the technical proposal, including technical specification and associated deliverables.
- Drive basis of design with the client, define optimized process integration with different blocks.
- Work with Intellectual Property team to ensure freedom to propose the technical solution.
- Support all necessary review meetings & documentation (A meeting, B meeting, Risk Boards, ERC, etc.).
- Participate in estimate reviews, benchmarking activities to ensure commercial competitiveness.
- Ensure competitiveness of the solution.
- Incorporate customer input into the proposed solution.
- Interact with key suppliers and procurement to develop project scope and price information for the technical solution.
- Participate and/or lead technical clarification meetings with the customer.
- Proactively seek market information and participate in win/loss data analysis for continuous improvement.
- Participate in contract negotiations with customers when needed.
- Evaluate FOIK (First of Its Kind) with Solution Development Director, Product Line, and E&C Americas VP Technology; prepare FOIK note if needed.
- Manage one direct report (if applicable).
Qualifications
- Bachelor or Master in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or equivalent engineering field.
- Experience in process design (HyCO plants or similar).
- General knowledge of project development and execution.
- General knowledge of industrial gas plants and market.
- Good analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with other entities/disciplines/departments.
- Ability to travel both domestic & international for meetings (10% time maximally).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Aspen Plus simulation software.
- Strong organizational and people management skills.
- Ability to interact effectively with customers.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Notions of German or French language are an asset.
- Ability to work with multicultural teams.
