We are proud to be recognized as a Ford Pro Upfitter (FPU) through Ford Motor Company, a Cadillac Master Coachbuilder (CMC) through GM, a Sprinter Master Upfitter / eXpert Upfitter through Mercedes-Benz, and a member of the Recreational Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA), National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association (NMEDA), and National Truck Equipment Association (NTEA).

Position Overview

The Solidworks Draftsman / CNC Programmer is responsible for converting engineering concepts, existing vehicle components, and production requirements into accurate, production ready manufacturing documentation. This role focuses primarily on creating and maintaining SolidWorks models, detailed manufacturing drawings, and CNC ready files used to fabricate custom vehicle components and assemblies.

Working closely with Production and Quality Control, the successful candidate will document new and existing designs, support fabrication processes, and ensure drawings accurately reflect production methods and as built conditions. This position requires a strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication, CNC manufacturing, welding, and production processes, along with the ability to translate physical parts and assemblies into precise CAD models.

This is a hybrid office and shop floor role requiring both engineering and hands on involvement. Responsibilities include supporting prototype development, approving vehicle layouts and fabricated assemblies, validating production quality, and continuously improving documentation to ensure efficient, repeatable manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

Drafting & Documentation (Primary Focus)

  • Convert 3D assemblies into fully dimensioned 2D manufacturing drawings.
  • Document existing parts, assemblies, and physical templates into production ready prints
  • Generate flat patterns, bend allowances, and forming details for sheet metal
  • Create CNC ready profiles for metal, wood and composite components (walls, panels, interior structures)
  • Accurately measure and model complex curves, radiuses, and irregular geometries from real-world parts
  • Break down assemblies into individual parts and subassemblies
  • Revise drawings based on shop feedback and as built conditions

PDM & Engineering Control

  • Manage files in SolidWorks PDM (file structure, revisions, ECOs)
  • Maintain organized, production ready documentation

CNC & Fabrication Support

  • Support CNC programming (router and plasma table)
  • Prepare files for cutting, nesting, and material optimization
  • Ensure designs are manufacturable across both metal and wood processes

Production & QC Involvement

  • Layout and approve body cuts on vehicles
  • Review and approve welded structures and subassemblies
  • Verify CNC-cut and fabricated parts match drawings and tolerances
  • Perform final QC checks (fit, finish, function)
  • Assist with road testing and final validation
Required Skills & Experience
  • Minimum 2 years of experience using SolidWorks.
  • Experience creating detailed 2D manufacturing drawings from 3D models and assemblies.
  • Ability to create production ready drawings with accurate dimensions, tolerances, and bill of materials.
  • Experience measuring existing parts and creating accurate CAD models from physical components.
  • Working knowledge of sheet metal design and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience preparing CNC ready profiles or manufacturing files.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate engineering documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively with engineering, production, and fabrication teams.
Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate combines strong CAD skills with practical manufacturing experience and understands how designs are built on the shop floor.

  • Experience with SolidWorks PDM, revision control, and engineering change orders (ECOs).
  • Hands on experience with sheet metal fabrication, press brake operations, welding, or machining.
  • Experience supporting CNC routers, plasma tables, or other CNC manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience documenting vehicle upfits, cabinetry, interior panels, or similar fabricated assemblies.
  • Ability to model complex curves, contours, and irregular geometries from existing parts or templates.
  • Familiarity with nesting software, material optimization, and CNC workflows.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing or custom fabrication environment.
Work Schedule & Benefits
  • Full-time position | 40 hours per week
  • Work Hours: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–2:30 PM
  • Potential for overtime
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including:
