Description:

We are seeking CAD Drafters to support a customer project focused on developing detailed engineering drawings from existing SolidWorks models.

This is a high-volume, schedule-driven effort that requires drafters who can work independently and efficiently while collaborating with experienced designers and engineers.

The primary responsibility of this role is production drafting rather than new product design. Candidates should have hands‑on experience using existing 3D models to produce accurate and complete 2D and 3D production drawings in accordance with established ASME drafting standards.

The selected candidates will work closely with engineering and project team members to convert SolidWorks models into clear, precise technical drawings. Work will include mechanical, electrical, and soft‑goods applications.

Candidates located in the Houston, Texas area are preferred, as the work will be performed on‑site.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop detailed 2D and 3D production drawings from existing SolidWorks models.

Create multi-sheet production drawing packages, typically consisting of approximately 2–3 sheets.

Develop drawings and flat patterns for spacesuit softgoods, including fabric components and sewn assemblies.

Support mechanical components and potentially ground support equipment associated with the project.

Apply appropriate dimensions, tolerances, notes, annotations, and other manufacturing information to production drawings.

Apply and interpret Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) as appropriate.

Produce drawings consistent with applicable ASME drafting standards.

Review existing 3D models and engineering information to accurately capture design intent in production documentation.

Incorporate drawing revisions, redlines, and engineering feedback as required.

Collaborate directly with the designers and engineers responsible for the original models to resolve questions and drawing discrepancies.

Maintain drawing accuracy and consistency while meeting an accelerated production schedule.

Manage assigned drawing packages independently and meet established project deadlines.

Required Qualifications:

Professional experience using SolidWorks to create detailed engineering and/or production drawings.

Demonstrated experience creating 2D production drawings from existing 3D CAD models.

Working knowledge of ASME engineering drawing standards.

Practical experience with GD&T, dimensioning, tolerancing, drawing notes, and annotations.

Ability to interpret 3D models and translate design intent into accurate manufacturing/production drawings.

Experience preparing drawings that can be used for fabrication, manufacturing, assembly, or production.

Ability to work independently with limited drafting oversight while collaborating effectively with engineers and designers.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to drawing accuracy.
