Job summary

The City of Amarillo, TX, invites applications for the Solid Waste Superintendent role to lead both the Collection and Disposal divisions, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient public services. You will supervise daily operations, manage budgets, and drive staff development in partnership with the Director of Public Works.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of supervisory solid waste experience, an MSW A license (TCEQ) or ability to obtain within 12 months, and a valid Texas driver's license.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of supervisory or management experience in solid waste operations.
• MSW A License issued by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) or obtain within 12 months from hire.
• Valid Texas Class C Driver’s License.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience managing budgets, personnel, regulatory compliance, and operational performance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee both Collection and Disposal divisions daily operations.
• Lead regulatory compliance and safety programs.
• Manage budgeting and long-range planning for the department.
• Support employee development and succession planning.
• Collaborate with the Director of Public Works and stakeholders.
