Job summary

Pinellas County is seeking a Solid Waste Program Coordinator to oversee contracted operations for Lealman district, ensuring compliance with contracts and permits. The role involves data collection, reporting, and coordinating with contractors across WTE, landfill, recycling, and special waste programs.

The position requires planning, scheduling, and budget tracking, with opportunities to lead special projects and interact with the public at meetings.

Qualifications

• Six years of progressively responsible work experience in environmental management, urban planning, accounting, public, business administration, contract administration, project management or related field.
• Bachelor degree with major coursework in environmental management, urban planning, public or business administration, project management, or related field and two years relevant experience.
• Post-graduate degree in any of the above subjects with one year related experience.
• An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead monitoring of contracted operations for Lealman Solid Waste Collection/Disposal District, including performance, logs, billing, and inquiries.
• Provide backup support for Special Waste/Handling and Recycling/ Mulch Delivery programs.
• Perform site inspections and collect data on WTE and landfill operations and other programs.
• Review contractor invoices for completeness; manage work orders and quality control in asset systems.
• Monitor site conditions, safety, security, and maintain contractor punch lists.
• Prepare programmatic reports and maintain operation logs; respond to citizen inquiries.
