Job summary

County Public Works is seeking a Safety Sensitive Manager to lead solid waste disposal and recycling programs, oversee budgets, and ensure compliance with environmental laws. The role includes coordinating with officials, contractors, and the public to address planning and operational challenges.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, geology, public administration, or related field.
• Four or more years supervisory and administrative management experience in solid waste management and operations.
• A valid non-commercial Class C motor vehicle operator's license.
• Safety Sensitive position with CDS and Alcohol Testing.

Responsibilities

• Manages activities by employees, contractors, and contractual personnel in landfill, recycling operations, and maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
• Prepares and administers operating budgets and contracts; develops solid waste disposal policies and procedures.
• Meets with contractors and officials to explain and resolve operating problems; supervises and evaluates staff.
