Job summary

Brevard County is seeking qualified Solid Waste Mechanics I–III to maintain and repair heavy diesel and gasoline vehicles and equipment at the Central Area/Cocoa/Central Disposal Facility. Positions require overtime and willingness to work nights, weekends and holidays in challenging landfill conditions.

Applicants must have experience in heavy equipment mechanics, diesel engine work, and ASE/ CDL credentials.

Qualifications

• Experience in heavy equipment mechanics with diesel engine experience.
• coursework in heavy equipment mechanics may substitute for up to 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance and repair of heavy diesel and gasoline vehicles and equipment.
• Oversee and direct work of Solid Waste Service Technicians and other employees.
• Work may occur in landfill environments and during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
