Job summary

Qualifications

We are seeking a dependable, safety-conscious Garbage Truck Driver to support the Solid Waste Management Program at Fort Belvoir, VA. The ideal candidate will have experience operating commercial refuse collection vehicles and a strong commitment to safety, reliability, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate garbage trucks to collect, transport, and dispose of solid waste and recyclable materials throughout Fort Belvoir.
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Operate hydraulic lifting systems and refuse collection equipment.
• Follow assigned collection routes and schedules.
• Comply with DOT regulations, safety procedures, and environmental requirements.
• Report equipment issues, maintenance needs, and safety concerns.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) – Required
• Minimum one (1) year of commercial driving experience preferred.
• Acceptable driving record and ability to meet company insurability requirements.
• Must successfully pass a background check and drug screening.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds and perform physically demanding work.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems and refuse collection equipment preferred.
• Familiarity with waste management and safety procedures preferred.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform job duties safely.
• Must be able to pass a company drug screen and background check. Must possess a valid state driver’s license and insurable driving record.

Work Schedule

Monday – Friday | 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM

• Consistent daytime schedule.
• Weekend, federal holiday, and after-hours work is generally not required, except for special events.
