Job summary

The City of Brooksville, FL is seeking a skilled Solid Waste Equipment Operator to collect and transport commercial solid waste using a front-loader. Responsibilities include planning routes, performing inspections, and ensuring safety standards and regulatory compliance.

Starting pay is $21.54/hr with benefits including PTO, holidays, Florida Retirement System, employer-paid health coverage, and tuition reimbursement up to $5,250 per year.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid Florida Driver's License (Class B).
• Insurable by City’s insurance carrier and driving record meets city standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate front-loader bulk-container collection truck safely.
• Operate other solid waste equipment as needed.
• Plan and update collection routes and schedules.
• Notify management of issues needing attention.
• Identify and report vehicle/container repairs.
• Work shifts to meet workload and service needs.
• Investigate and respond to complaints as directed.
• Perform daily/weekly checks and basic maintenance.
• Maintain safe, diligent work practices and complete duties.
• Perform other duties as required by the city.
