Job summary

Eurofins USA PSS Insourcing Solutions in Groton, CT is seeking an Associate Scientist to support laboratory work in synthesizing salt forms and polymorphs of drug candidates, and to evaluate these forms for acceptability as drug substances.

You will perform solid form and particle characterization, collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams, and contribute to screening strategies aligned with project timelines. The role is full-time, M-F 8 am–5 pm, with potential weekend work based on needs.

Qualifications

• BS with 2+ years or MS in pharmaceutical science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or related field.
• Experience in solid state characterization techniques (XRD, microscopy, DSC, TGA, spectroscopy).
• Strong data analysis and interpretation skills.
• FTIR/NIR/FT-Raman and SSNMR knowledge is an advantage.
• Good communication and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Conduct solid state characterization of small molecules (XRD, thermal analysis, moisture sorption, microscopy, spectroscopy).
• Support project teams in crystallization, polymorph, salt, and co-crystal screening.
• Characterize API particles and surface properties.
• Collaborate with Medicinal Chemistry, Formulation and Biopharmaceutics to align screening strategies.
• Maintain accurate electronic laboratory notebook entries and data integrity.
• Solve problems using Materials Science techniques.
• Contribute to development of new approaches within Materials Science.
• Assist with documentation and reporting.
