ION Storage Systems in Beltsville, MD is seeking a Battery Scientist I or II to join our Cell Research and Development team. You will learn and perform research on lithium-based solid-state battery cells, fabricate prototypes, and analyze data to understand and improve electrochemical performance.

The role requires hands-on lab work, collaboration with senior scientists, and the potential to lead campaigns at Scientist II level.

Qualifikationen

• BS or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or related field with lab work
• MS or PhD with laboratory-based research experience in battery materials
• Hands-on measurement and analysis of material properties related to batteries
• Ability to analyze data to draw defensible conclusions
• Clear technical communication, teamwork and organization

Aufgaben

• Learn and perform research on electrochemical cells and their components
• Fabricate prototypes and conduct testing with statistical analyses
• Collaborate with senior scientists to interpret results
• Document experimental design, results and uncertainties
• Support design and fabrication of tools for cell assembly and testing
• Troubleshoot results and translate findings into changes
• Stay current with battery literature and methods
• Identify opportunities to improve R&D processes
• Follow safety protocols and maintain lab cleanliness
• Independently scope and lead campaigns at Scientist II level and mentor juniors
