Job summary

Top Prospect Group is seeking a meticulous Solderer for 1st shift in Seymour, CT to join a fast-paced electronics manufacturing team. You will perform hand soldering on PCBAs, inspect joints, and document workmanship per IPC standards.

Requirements include 1–3 years soldering experience, ability to read basic schematics, and familiarity with through-hole and SMT processes. This is a contract/Temp-to-Perm role onsite with no remote work.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of hands-on soldering experience in electronics manufacturing.
• Experience with through-hole and SMT soldering.
• Ability to read basic schematics or assembly drawings.
• IPC-A-610 and/or J-STD-001 certification preferred (or ability to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Perform hand soldering of through-hole and surface mount components on PCB assemblies.
• Inspect solder joints for workmanship and IPC conformance.
• Read and follow assembly drawings, work instructions, and travelers.
• Identify and correct solder defects such as cold joints and bridges.
• Use soldering irons, microscopes, and hand tools safely.
• Rework and touch-up assemblies as required.
• Maintain accurate documentation of work performed.
• Communicate quality issues to supervisors or Quality team.

Position: Contract / Temp-to-Perm

Position Purpose

The Solderer is responsible for performing high-quality hand soldering and assembly of electronic components on printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs). This role supports production by ensuring assemblies meet workmanship, quality, and IPC standards in a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform hand soldering of through-hole and surface mount components on PCB assemblies.
• Inspect solder joints for workmanship, defects, and conformance to IPC standards.
• Read and follow assembly drawings, work instructions, and job travelers.
• Identify and correct solder defects such as cold joints, bridges, and insufficient solder.
• Use soldering irons, microscopes, and hand tools safely and effectively.
• Rework and touch-up assemblies as required.
• Maintain accurate documentation of work performed.
• Communicate quality issues or recurring defects to supervisors or Quality team.
• Maintain clean, organized, and ESD-compliant workstations.
• Follow all safety, quality, and company procedures.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of hands-on soldering experience in an electronics manufacturing environment (preferred).
• Experience with through-hole and SMT soldering.
• Ability to identify electronic components and read basic schematics or assembly drawings.
• IPC-A-610 and/or J-STD-001 certification preferred (or ability to obtain).
• Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting.
