Job summary

MacroFab in Georgia is seeking a skilled Solder Technician for PTH and selective soldering on PCBs. You will read schematics, set up solder machines, and ensure IPC-compliant workmanship.

You will program and monitor selective solder equipment, maintain quality, meet production quotas, and keep a clean,ESD-compliant workspace.

Candidates should have at least 3 years hands-on through-hole soldering and experience with J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on through-hole soldering on PCBs.
• Experience operating and programming selective solder machines.
• Ability to read machine programs, setup sheets, and work instructions.
• Good eyesight and manual dexterity.
• Attention to detail and ability to work independently or in a team.
• Able to sit for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Solder electronic components on PCBs using through-hole techniques.
• Set up, operate, and perform basic maintenance on selective solder machines.
• Program, adjust, and monitor selective solder machines to maintain proper solder levels, temperatures, and flux application.
• Follow assembly instructions, schematics, and diagrams to ensure correct component placement and orientation.
• Inspect assembled products to ensure proper functionality and workmanship per IPC standards.
• Repair defects in soldered components such as missing/insufficient solder, lifted leads, solder bridges, cold solder joints, wrong orientation, and etc.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace in compliance with ESD and safety requirements.
• Meet production quotas and deadlines.

Solder Technician, PTH & Selective

We are looking for a skilled PTH & Selective Solder Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with through-hole soldering on PCBs and operating selective solder machines, including programming and setup. The technician will be responsible for ensuring all components are properly soldered and function correctly per IPC standards. The candidate should be able to read and interpret schematics, diagrams, and assembly instructions. Attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are crucial for success in this role.

Preferred Qualifications:

• High school diploma, General Education Development (GED) certificate, or equivalent.
• Familiarity with assembly instructions, schematics, and diagrams.
• J-STD-001 & IPC-A-610 certifications.
• Familiarity with SMT processes and pick & place machine operation.
• Experience with ERP or manufacturing execution systems.
