Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories is seeking a motivated Laboratory Support Technologist to tackle challenging solder science and materials joining problems. You will work across R&D and applied-science projects, performing analyses with advanced characterization tools and supporting reliability testing.

The role focuses on high-reliability materials for mission-critical components, with collaboration across technologists and managers inside and outside the organization. Onsite work is required.

Qualifications

• Experience with materials characterization or inspection equipment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance.
• Background in laboratory soldering or brazing environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment including thermal cycling chambers, ovens, and microscopes.
• Fabricate solder joints for R&D and manufacturing applications.
• Plan and conduct materials testing including reliability and creep testing.
• Analyze samples for microstructure and failure analysis.
• Update safety documentation and help train junior staff.
