Job summary

Mercury Systems is seeking skilled solderers to support production operations on PCBs and PCBAs. You will solder SMT and Through-Hole components, interpret routing and wiring diagrams, and perform IPC-compliant inspections with a microscope.

The role requires meticulous hand‑eye coordination, at least 3 years of electronics assembly experience, and the ability to rework and repair per specifications. This position offers in‑office or hybrid work options, with a focus on quality and safety.

Qualifications

  • Onsite soldering assessment to J-STD-001 during interview.
  • 3+ years electronics assembly and inspection experience with in-process soldering (both through hole and SMT).
  • Must work for extended hours using a microscope for inspection and touch-ups.
  • Excellent hand soldering skills required and knowledge of ESD procedures.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.

Responsibilities

  • Use soldering irons to attach SMT and Through-Hole components.
  • Interpret routers, instructions, wiring diagrams and schematics for assembly.
  • Inspect assemblies to IPC standards and conduct pass downs between shifts.
  • Modify, solder, rework, repair assemblies per specs and drawings.
  • Other duties as assigned by Lead or Supervisor.

Job description

Mercury Systems is looking for aspiring solderers to help complete a variety of tasks relating to production operations on PCBs and PCBAs. To be successful, you will need to demonstrate skill with soldering SMT and through hole components, rework and repair of boards.

Job Responsibilities
  • Use soldering irons to attach electronic components with SMT and Thru hole technologies.
  • Interpreting job routers, written instructions, wiring diagrams and schematic drawings for assembly of electronics
  • Performing a variety of inspections to ensure assemblies meet/exceed IPC standards
  • Performing pass downs with outgoing/incoming shifts
  • Modifying, soldering, reworking, repairing assemblies and subassemblies according to specifications, drawings, and work instructions
  • Other duties as assigned by Lead or Supervisor
Required Qualifications
  • Will require an onsite soldering assessment to J-STD-001 standards during the interview
  • Must have meticulous hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Typically requires 3+ years of electronics assembly and inspection experience with in-process soldering (both through hole and surface mount)
  • Must be able to work for extended hours utilizing a microscope to perform inspection and solder touch-ups
  • Hand soldering experience is required
  • Knowledge of ESD (Electrostatic discharge) procedures
  • High School Diploma or GED
Preferred Qualifications
  • Rework/repair, wire attach, and mechanical assembly
  • Must be detail oriented and able to multitask
  • IPC-610, J-STD-001 and 7711/7721 certification preferred
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule in order to meet production and customer needs

Fulltime Equivalent Job Grade Salary Range for this position

$44,000.00 - $88,000.00 annual salary for in-office or hybrid employees in FL, GA, IN, AZ, AL, MD or TX, and all remote employees

$49,300.00 - $98,600.00 annual salary for in-office or hybrid employees in VA, CA, NH or MA

$51,900.00 - $103,800.00 annual salary for in-office or hybrid employees in NJ,

  • education, training, skills and certifications;
  • internal equity with others employed by Mercury in similar roles;
