Job summary

Leeward Renewable Energy seeks a Solar Technician to perform routine maintenance on solar assets, document activities in CMMS, and uphold safety standards at our Indiana sites.

You will work closely with the Site Lead, participate in on-the-job training, and help ensure reliable power generation across our solar projects. Physical tasks and weather exposure are part of the role, with opportunities for growth within the field operations team.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic maintenance on solar panels, inverters, racking, and tracking systems under supervision.
  • Record maintenance activities in CMMS, including work orders, updates and closure.
  • Follow safety protocols including PPE, lockout/tagout, and safe work practices.
  • Assist in preparing reports on maintenance activities, documenting issues and solutions.
  • Engage in on-the-job training to develop technical skills for solar plant operations.
  • Assist in handling and organizing tools, equipment, and materials for maintenance tasks.
  • Collaborate with higher-level technicians and Site Lead to ensure safe, accurate execution.
  • Perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 lbs and working in various weather conditions.

Born in Texas in 2003, we own and operate over 30 utility-scale wind, solar, and energy storage projects in local communities across the United States, totaling 4 gigawatts (GW) of generating capacity. Essential Functions:
  • Routine Maintenance: Perform basic maintenance tasks on solar panels, inverters, racking, and tracking systems under supervision. Ensure all work is conducted safely and in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Work Order Management: Accurately record all maintenance activities in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), including work order creation, updates, and closure.
  • Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), lockout/tagout procedures, and safe work practices to minimize risks.
  • Reporting: Assist in preparing reports on maintenance activities, including documenting issues encountered, solutions implemented, and recommendations for future work.
  • Learning & Development: Engage in on-the-job training to develop technical skills and knowledge in solar plant operations. Participate in company-provided training programs to advance to higher levels within the solar technician career path.
  • Equipment Handling: Assist in handling and organizing tools, equipment, and materials required for maintenance tasks. Ensure all equipment is properly maintained and stored.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with higher-level technicians and the Site Lead to complete tasks efficiently and effectively. Follow instructions and seek guidance when needed to ensure safe and accurate execution of work.
  • Physical Work: Perform physical tasks such as lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying items up to 50 lbs. Work in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, and rain.
