Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a skilled PV O&M technician to perform operations and maintenance on Solar and Energy Storage projects, focusing on electrical systems, safety, and troubleshooting.

You will work independently or in teams, handle inverters, battery modules, SCADA and CMMS workflows, and travel to facilities within Arizona while complying with environmental and safety regulations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Two-year technical degree or journeyman qualifications preferred.
• Three years PV O&M or five+ years in a power plant.
• Experience with PV or BESS installation.
• Strong knowledge of electrical fundamentals, control circuits and instrumentation.
• Familiarity with LOTO and electrical safety principles.
• Proficient with standard business software; SCADA/CMMS familiarity.
• Able to read/write English and travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Perform operations and maintenance on Solar and Energy Storage projects.
• Inspect and service inverters, transformers, battery modules, and collection systems.
• Troubleshoot electrical systems, calibrate instrumentation, and perform inverter diagnostics.
• Execute lockout/tagout, safety permits and work orders.
• Operate plant systems and document procedures and instructions.
• Travel to facilities up to three hours away and occasional overnight stays.

Job description

• Perform assigned operations and maintenance activities for Solar and Energy Storage projects
• Perform or assist with corrective, preventive, emergency, and routine maintenance and operations on inverters, transformers, battery modules, DC collection equipment, and AC collection/distribution systems
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, calibrate instrumentation, and perform basic inverter troubleshooting
• Execute equipment clearances using lockout/tagout procedures
• Follow and issue Job Safety Analysis, Work Authorization, Confined Space, and Hot Work permits according to safety procedures
• Operate electrical and mechanical power plant systems
• Operate Solar plus BESS facilities in compliance with regulatory standards
• Ensure work complies with environmental and safety requirements
• Write or assist with plant orders, plant procedures, operating instructions, and other assigned documents
• Work independently or in crews as directed
• Participate in required training
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• 2-year technical degree or equivalent Journeyman qualifications is a plus
• Three years of experience as a PV O&M technician or five or more years of experience in a power plant
• Experience with PV or BESS system installation
• Demonstrated knowledge of electrical or mechanical fundamentals, including electrical measurements, control circuits, and solid-state theory application
• Experience with electrical systems and basic safety principles, including LOTO and Electrical Safety
• Technical proficiency with standard business software
• Experience with SCADA and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems is highly recommended
• Ability to read, write, and understand English
• Ability to walk up to two miles a day on uneven terrain and complete repetitive equipment-maintenance tasks
• Ability to carry 25 lbs
• Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations
• Ability and willingness to work overtime and respond to call-ins
• Ability to travel to facilities daily up to three hours away
• Ability to travel overnight 10% of the time
• Ability to work outdoors in varying temperatures and humidity, at heights, and around energized equipment, hazardous materials, and chemicals
• Ability to use required personal protective safety equipment
