Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a PV O&M technician to perform operations and maintenance on Solar and Energy Storage projects. You will troubleshoot electrical systems, calibrate instrumentation, and execute safety procedures such as lockout/tagout.

The role requires a background in PV or BESS installation, solid knowledge of electrical fundamentals, and willingness to travel for site work. Candidates should be prepared for overtime and varying outdoor conditions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 2-Year technical degree or equivalent journeyman qualifications.
• 3 years of PV O&M technician experience or 5+ years in a power plant.
• PV or BESS system installation experience.
• Knowledge of electrical/mechanical fundamentals and control circuits.
• Familiarity with LOTO and electrical safety principles.
• Ability to read, write, and understand English.
• Willingness to travel and work overtime; overtime may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform operations and maintenance on Solar and Energy Storage projects.
• Maintain inverters, transformers, battery modules, DC/AC collection systems.
• Troubleshoot electrical/mechanical issues and calibrate instrumentation.
• Execute lockout/tagout and safety permits per procedures.
• Operate power plant systems and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Prepare Plant Orders, Procedures, and operating instructions.
• Travel to facilities and respond to call-ins as needed.
• Assist with documentation and training as required.

Job description

• Perform assigned operations and maintenance activities for Solar and Energy Storage projects
• Perform or assist with corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance and operations on inverters, transformers, battery modules, DC collection equipment, and AC collection and distribution systems
• Perform routine electrical troubleshooting and repair, instrumentation calibration, and basic inverter troubleshooting
• Execute equipment clearances using lockout/tagout procedures
• Follow and issue Job Safety Analysis, Work Authorization, Confined Space, and Hot Work permits according to safety procedures
• Operate electrical and mechanical power plant systems
• Operate Solar plus BESS facilities in compliance with regulatory standards
• Ensure work complies with environmental and safety requirements
• Participate in required training
• Write or assist with Plant Orders, Plant Procedures, Operating Instructions, and other assigned documents
• Work independently or in crews based on skills and experience
• Travel to facilities and respond to call-ins as required
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• 2-year technical degree or equivalent Journeyman qualifications (plus)
• Three (3) years of experience as a PV O&M technician or five (5) or more years of experience in a power plant
• Experience with PV or BESS system installation
• Demonstrated knowledge of electrical or mechanical fundamentals, including electrical measurements, control circuits, and solid-state theory application
• Experience with electrical systems and familiarity with LOTO and Electrical Safety principles
• Technical proficiency with personal computers and standard business software
• Ability to read, write, and understand English
• Ability to walk up to two miles per day on uneven terrain and complete repetitive equipment-maintenance tasks
• Ability to carry 25 lbs
• Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations
• Ability and willingness to work overtime, respond to call-ins, travel overnight 10% of the time, and work non-standard hours
• Ability to travel daily to facilities up to 3 hours away using a company-provided vehicle
• Ability to work outdoors in varying temperatures and humidity, at heights, and around energized equipment, hazardous materials, and chemicals
• Ability to use required personal protective equipment
• Ability to operate electrical and mechanical power plant systems
• SCADA and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems experience highly recommended
• Spanish and/or Portuguese language skills are a plus
