Carolina Solar Services seeks a Solar Technician I to support senior staff in safe, timely service of solar facilities. You will learn CSS protocols, assist in troubleshooting, commissioning, and maintenance while representing the company in the field.

Key responsibilities include safety-first work, field reports, and delivering excellent customer service. The role involves on-call weekends/holidays and potential overtime, with field travel to utility-scale sites.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist with troubleshooting and repairing utility-scale solar generators.
• Assist with commissioning, QA inspections, or preventative maintenance.
• Provide timely field service reports to operations staff for clients.
• Ensure a premium level of customer service.
• Attend safety meetings and uphold safety standards.
• Travel and on-call availability as required.

Job description

Position Summary:

The Solar Technician I will be the junior field service technician for CSS’ operations and maintenance of solar facilities. The Solar Technician Iis responsible forsupporting senior field staff in the safe andtimelycompletion of all service obligations, learning CSS company protocols, andrepresentingCSS in the field.

Essential Functions:

• Prioritize safety daily and activelyparticipatesin site safety meetings
• Assistwith troubleshooting and repairing utility scale solar generators
• Assistwith commissioning, quality assurance inspection, or preventative maintenance work as needed
• ProvidetimelyField Service Reports back to Operations staff for delivery to clients
• Ensure a premium level of customer service
• Perform vegetative maintenance asrequired
• Participate inweekend and holiday on-call schedule
• Occasionalovertime work andovernight travelrequired

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Proficiencyreading technical specification documents, site plans, & electrical schematics
• Familiarity with tools, terminologies, and processes associated with electrical andmechanical trade work
• Basic understanding of the principles of electrical theory and photovoltaic power generation
• General computer, network, and technologyproficiency
• Understanding & experience in the operation and concepts relating to electrical and mechanical trade work
• Clear verbal and written communication skills
• Team oriented attitude
• Values staff development and organizational excellence

Minimum Qualifications:

• Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving recordtooperatea company vehicle

Preferred Qualifications:

• First-Aid/CPR/AED
• NFPA 70E
• OSHA 10
• Field experiencein residential,commercialor utility scale solar PV

Physical Demands:

• Ability to lift and carry up to 30 poundsfrequently
• Ability to work athigh heightswith the use of a safety harness

Work Environment:

• ~90% of time spent in-field at utility scale solar facilities
• Exposure to weather, extreme heat or cold
• Exposure to native plants and,occasionally, animals
• Exposure to electrical hazards
