Job summary

CSS seeks a Solar Technician I to support senior field staff in servicing utility-scale solar facilities. You will learn company protocols in the field, ensure safe, timely completion of obligations, and represent CSS with customers.

As a junior technician, you will assist with troubleshooting, commissioning, and preventive maintenance while delivering quality field reports and maintaining a high level of customer service onsite.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.
• Preferred: field experience in residential, commercial or utility scale solar PV.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize safety and participate in site safety meetings.
• Assist with troubleshooting and repairing solar generators.
• Assist with commissioning, QA inspection, or preventive maintenance.
• Provide timely field service reports to operations.
• Ensure premium customer service.
• Support vegetative maintenance as required.
• Participate in weekend/holiday on-call schedule.
• Overtime and overnight travel may be required.

Position Summary:

The Solar Technician I will be the junior field service technician for CSS’ operations and maintenance of solar facilities. The Solar Technician Iis responsible forsupporting senior field staff in the safe andtimelycompletion of all service obligations, learning CSS company protocols, andrepresentingCSS in the field.

Essential Functions:

• Prioritize safety daily and activelyparticipatesin site safety meetings
• Assistwith troubleshooting and repairing utility scale solar generators
• Assistwith commissioning, quality assurance inspection, or preventative maintenance work as needed
• Provide timely Field Service Reports back to Operations staff for delivery to clients
• Ensure a premium level of customer service
• Perform vegetative maintenance asrequired
• Participate inweekend and holiday on-call schedule
• Occasionalovertime work andovernight travelrequired

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Proficiencyreading technical specification documents, site plans, & electrical schematics
• Familiarity with tools, terminologies, and processes associated with electrical andmechanical trade work
• Basic understanding of the principles of electrical theory and photovoltaic power generation
• General computer, network, and technologyproficiency
• Understanding & experience in the operation and concepts relating to electrical and mechanical trade work
• Clear verbal and written communication skills
• Team oriented attitude
• Values staff development and organizational excellence

Minimum Qualifications:

• Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving recordtooperatea company vehicle

Preferred Qualifications:

• First-Aid/CPR/AED
• NFPA 70E
• OSHA 10

Physical Demands:

• Ability to lift and carry up to 30 poundsfrequently
• Ability to work athigh heightswith the use of a safety harness

Work Environment:

• ~90% of time spent in-field at utility scale solar facilities
• Exposure to weather, extreme heat or cold
• Exposure to native plants and,occasionally, animals
• Exposure to electrical hazards
